Over view
The Uros´ Floating Islands are groups of artificial islands, made of totora reed, that are built and float on Lake Titicaca´s waters. Their inhabitants are the Uros, and are an ancestral nation that currently spreads over the Collao High Plateau, and that, in Peru, only live on the floating islands situated in Puno´s Bay.
Taquile is an island located in the lake Titicaca´s heart, at an altitude that oscillates between 3,810 and 4,100 m.a.s.l., and is covered by infinite crop benched terraces. There, about 2,500 people live, grouped in 500 families, and these are characterized by their fine handicraft work; reason for which the UNESCO declared that island as ‘Masterwork of Humanity´s Oral and Immaterial Heritage’.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Puno
Upon your arrival at Juliaca´s Airport, our staff will transfer you to the city of Puno, to accommodate you at the hotel you have previously booked. Then, you´ll enjoy a free afternoon, to get acclimatized or, if you wish, to go on a stroll around the lake-side city of Puno. Overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 2: Uros – Taquile Tour and transfer to the bus station.
At the indicated time, our staff will pick you up at your hotel, to transfer you to Puno´s port, on Lake Titicaca, where you´ll board a motorized boat that will take you to visit the Uros´ Floating Islands, on a 45-minute ride. These artificial islands are built with numerous layers of intertwined totora reed, and are tied to the lake´s bottom.
On the way, our guide will give you information on Lake Titicaca and the Uros´ legends, as well as on their tradition, customs and folklore. Then, our boat will take you to visit Taquile Island, with its great landscape, ethnic, cultural and archaeological value.
Around noon, you´ll enjoy a delicious lunch, after which our boat will take you back, from Taquile´s port, sailing off at 2:30 p.m., and arriving at the city of Puno around 5:30 p.m., to directly transfer to your hotel, or bus station.
